Librarians and Bartenders: Why People Need Us

Just like there is no typical day for a bartender, there is no typical day for a public librarian.  Sometimes we laugh, and sometimes we want to scream.  Let’s face it, the public can be hysterical, cynical, exhausting,  and even uplifting at times.  What keeps us encouraged each day? What motivates, inspires and helps us assist our customers and keep them happily coming back?
